Lenovo Expands its Guilford County Manufacturing and Fulfillment Facility

Chamber Economic Development

The Greensboro Chamber of Commerce announced today, with the support of the Guilford County Economic Development Alliance and key local and state government agencies, one of the region’s key global companies, Lenovo, intends to expand its existing manufacturing and fulfillment facility located at 6550 Judge Adams Rd in Whitsett. Lenovo, a global technology leader in personal computing, IT infrastructure, software, solutions, and services, is advancing a multi-million-dollar investment to expand its server manufacturing and fulfillment capabilities that, when completed, is expected to create more than 400 new jobs in Guilford County. This planned expansion underscores Lenovo’s long-term commitment to North Carolina and its confidence in the Triad’s strong workforce and business environment.

This $77 million investment in Guilford County will strengthen the company’s footprint in the Triad, further integrating the region into Lenovo’s global supply chain excellence and innovation. North Carolina is one of 30+ manufacturing locations for Lenovo in 11 different markets around the world and is part of the company’s global/local strategy that balances global scale with local capabilities and delivery. With one of the company’s two global headquarters and more than 3,000 employees in the state, Lenovo is highly regarded for its manufacturing and supply chain excellence, ranking 8th in the prestigious Gartner Supply Chain Top 25, which ranks those global companies across all industries that consistently demonstrate leadership in supply chain strategy and execution.

“Given Lenovo’s long history in North Carolina, we are particularly pleased that they have again chosen to expand their operations here. The state continues to be an ideal environment for global tech companies like Lenovo,” said Chris Chung, CEO of the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC). “With our skilled labor force, strategic location, and pro-business climate, North Carolina is well-positioned to support this kind of transformative investment.”

“Lenovo has been a significant contributor to the North Carolina economy for the past 20 years and the expansion of our facility in Guilford County, which first opened in 2007, will build on our long-term commitment to the state and Triad region for many years to come. Our desire to further expand here is driven by strong customer demand and the strength of the region’s connectivity, workforce, and business infrastructure, meaning we can deliver to customers more quickly and efficiently,” said Ryan McCurdy, President, North America and North America Site Leader, Lenovo. “We welcome the support received from the community and government agencies and look forward to working with all to bring this investment to fruition.”

“This announcement reflects Guilford County’s growing reputation as a destination for cutting-edge industry,” said Melvin “Skip” Alston, Chairman of the Guilford County Board of Commissioners. “Lenovo’s efforts to expand here is a win for our workforce, our economy, and our future.”

“Lenovo’s expansion will be another major milestone in Guilford County’s tech momentum,” said Sherri Thomas, Chair of the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce. “This announcement is a reflection of the partnerships and talent that make our region a place where great companies want to grow.”

The Guilford County Economic Development Alliance, comprised of the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce and the High Point Economic Development Corporation, worked together with the North Carolina Department of Commerce, Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, Guilford County, Duke Energy, Guilford Technical Community College, and Guilford Works to support Lenovo’s expansion in Guilford County.
