About
HandsOn NWNC mobilizes the people and organizations that inspire community change in Forsyth, Guilford, Davidson, Davie, Iredell, Stokes, Surry, and Yadkin counties
HandsOn NWNC was launched in October 2007 with a mission to strengthen the community by increasing volunteerism and providing professional development and training to local nonprofits Now in our 17th year, we have expanded services to Iredell and Guilford Counties, and work with more than 600 different nonprofits and engage thousands of volunteers annually across our region.
Since our founding, we have worked with individuals, nonprofits, and corporate partners to create and promote meaningful volunteer connections across the Triad (and sometimes beyond!). All nonprofits in our service area can create accounts on our volunteer engagement portal and software (GetConnected), and receive our monthly newsletter--jam-packed with a wealth of important and timely information, including grant and training opportunities--entirely for free. In addition, our nonprofit partners can access our best-in-class volunteer engagement workshops, board member recruitment activities, national Days of Service programming, and a wealth of other professional and leadership development programs at significantly reduced costs, since we never want the ability to pay to be a barrier to participation. By partnering with HandsOn, nonprofits with or without paid volunteer management staff get the support they need to create positive, effective opportunities for their volunteers, while accessing other services and resources they need to be more efficient in their work and bring their community problem-solving ideas to scale.
HandsOn NWNC continues to mobilize people and organizations that inspire community change, becoming a one-stop shop for those within the sector who need help, support, or resources as well as for community volunteers and local businesses looking to get engaged with nonprofits to increase their community impact. We provide a wide variety of training, professional and leadership development programs, and technical assistance offerings aimed at all levels of an organization, with the goal of helping nonprofits meet their missions more efficiently and effectively. We provide both an online volunteer matching portal for individuals and create customized service experiences for corporate and other groups looking to get involved with community-based projects. We are tied into our local emergency management agency and seek to provide verified, vetted information to volunteers and community members in the wake of local disasters, both natural and man-made. Over the years, we have built a reputation for providing innovative, high-quality, and cost-effective programming dedicated to building both the internal infrastructure of local nonprofits and an effective volunteer and civic engagement infrastructure for the community at large. A detailed and constantly updated list of all of current programming for nonprofits, volunteers, and businesses can be found on our website at www.HandsOnNWNC.org.
