Established in 1919, Henry K. Burtner American Legion Post 53 has proudly served the veterans, families, and community of Greensboro for over a century. Rooted in the core values of the American Legion, Post 53 focuses on four key pillars: Veterans Rehabilitation & Education, National Security, Americanism, and Children & Youth. Through these pillars, we engage in programs that support veterans' well-being, sponsor youth initiatives such as Tar Heel Boys State, and provide opportunities for leadership and civic engagement through events like the High School Oratorical Speech Contest.
